Demoledor en el día del derby. By Steve.

DERBY DAY DEMOLITION
FC CARTAGENA - 3 LORCA DEPORTIVA - 1
BY STEVE HIBBERD

On a day when the city of Cartagena were celebrating the annual Carthaginians and Romans festival, their football team were making light work of destroying local rivals Lorca.
This emphatic win pushes Los Albinegros up to 2nd in div 2b, having extended their 100 percent home record to 3 games. By half time, the home side had totally demoralised a rough and ready Lorca side, who looked a every bit a team occupying a relegation slot.
Coach Alcoy made only one change from the goalless draw at Granada the previous week. Classy Curro was re-instated to the no 4 slot, at the expense of Lusarreta, who was relegated to the bench.

FC CARTAGENA LINE-UP
CABALLERO, ORMAZABAL, ORLANDO, CHARCO, CABREJO, CURRO, MARIANO, CARMONA, SIVORI (JUVENAL 67), LUFUENTE (CHITO 60), MOLIST (TOLEDO 78)
It took only 2 mins for Cartagena to storm into the lead. A delightful crossfield pass, found Carmona whose miskicked shot landed perfectly at the feet of fellow striker Molist. With typical accuracy, the Catalonian threaded home a drive past Lorcas keeper, setting the stage for what was to come. Early play featured regular attacking forays by full back Cabrejo, who was relishing his new found freedom. Carmona doesn´t score many goals, but when he does, they are special. From fully 25 yards, the young signing from Real Mallorca got sight of goal and unleashed an unstoppable drive, which whistled into the back of the net. Lorca attempted a comeback, but Adors powerful drive was confidently fingertipped over by Caballero. Shortly afterwards, Cartagena were given an almighty let off. A speculative punt upfield, landed perfectly for Lorcas no 14 who having rounded Caballero, thankfully lost his balance, sending his shot into the side netting. When Lorcas less than subtle centre back Rueda, sythed down Molist just outside the penalty area, not only did he receive one of six booking given to his club, but he presented Cartagena with a free kick in a very dangerous position. Step forward that man Carmona. Although he didn´t have a lot to aim at, he delivered his kick with perfection, placing the ball just inside the near post, giving his side a healthy 3-0 lead after only 40 mins. As local derbies go, this was becomming a stroll, reminiscent of a Hampshire equivilant a couple of seasons ago, when Pompey stormed into an unassailable half time lead, helping to relegate the counties poor relation!!!!

Different half, same story. Carmona and Lafuente were terrorising Lorcas defence something chronic, resulting in both receiving x-rated treatment. No two ways about it, Lorca were a nasty lot, fouling their way throughout the 2nd half. Referee Castillo was having none of it though. All 6 bookings to Lorcas assassins were more than justified, although when Carmona was crudely stopped with only the keeper to beat, senor Castillo showed extreme benevolence to the offender by only producing a yellow card. Strangely, this incident led to the sending off of a Lorca sub from the dugout. Not having previously entered the field of play, he presumably made offensive remarks initially to the linesman, then the ref himself (tonto!!). With the very last kick of the game, well into the 3rd min of stoppage time, Lorcas Ador scored with a glorious 20 yard drive. Sivori received Cartagenas only booking, fully illustrating their superb discipline in the face of massive provocation.
Attendance - 4,500
FORTHCOMING FIXTURE
Newly promoted, mid table Mazarron provide the next opposition for Cartagena. Mazarron v Cartagena is on Sunday 30 September, ko 12 oclock (noon/midday). This local derby is the very first div 2b fixture between the 2 sides, and promises to be an entertaining affair.
