FC CARTAGENA NEWS UPDATE
BY STEVE HIBBERD

After a disappointing div 2b campaign, FC Cartagena (or more to the point, President Gomez!) have announced that virtually every player on the books will be free to leave the club. Obviously, they won´t all be leaving, but as the club are still managerless, there is a huge amount of uncertainty within.

Different names have been linked with the vacant managers post, and an appointment is expected by next week. Rumours still persist regarding the proposed takeover of FC Cartagena by the current owner of div 2a outfit Granada 74. Spanish newspaper La Verdad, have also reported that main sponsors Relasa Galvame look likely to pull the plug, leaving Cartagena looking for a new sponsor next season. The final day victory over Algeciras, saw Cartagena score their 100th goal at Cartagonova Stadium, since moving there in 1995.

It wasn´t good news for the play off teams in Cartagenas group. Although Ceuta and Linares both drew, Ecija and Merida lost their 1st leg matches, and have it all to do in the forthcoming 2nd leg ties.
