FC CARTAGENA - 0 VILLARREAL 'B' - 0
BY STEVE HIBBERD
If you had said at the start of the season, that newly promoted Los Albinegros would be unbeaten after 6 matches in a very tough div 2a, then it might also be suggested that you perhaps still believe in tooth fairies, father xmas and that Heskey is the man to lead Englands strike force in South Africa.
But, following this uninspiring goalless bore draw, that is exactly what has happened. Ok, so they might have been knocked off the top, but a return of 12 points at this stage indicates that they punching way above their weight, and are on the right road to survival. This was by far the most uneventful match, in a season which has been nothing short of absorbing. On chances created, a point apiece was probably a far distribution. One statistic which might emphasise the lack of urgency and commitment throughout the 90 mins, was that arbitro Jose Pineiro did not book or send off a single player from either side - SIN TARJETAS.
First half highlights included a long range drive by yellow submarines (Villarreal) Matilla, which was pushed around the post by Ruben. Lafuente tested Villarreals keeper with an edge of the area effort, before Matilla saw another shot just miss the target.
Into the 2nd half, and once again it was Lafuente who troubled the opposition keeper, with a decent long range delivery. Hearts were in mouths, inside Cartagonova Stadium midway through the half, when yellow submarines Marco Ruben, was very unlucky to see his delightful chip hit the crossbar, before being cleared to safety.
