REAL MURCIA - 1 FC CARTAGENA - 4
BY STEVE HIBBERD
The province of Murcia has waited many years to watch this div 2a battle of its 2 top teams. As expected, the result went to form, although for large parts of the 2nd half, the home side dominated. An incredible 7,000+ Cartagena fans made the short trip to Murcia's capital, to watch their table topping heroes perform inside the quite magnificent Nueva Condomina Stadium. Two goals inside the first 5 mins, gave the boys from the naval city an electric start. A delightful through ball by Lafuente was intercepted by Murcia's keeper, who then made an almighty bloomer by slicing the ball straight to De Lucas, leaving the ex Chelsea man with a simple task of tapping into an open goal. Less than a min later, Victor latched on to another glorious ball, finishing with ease. On 26 mins, the live wire Lafuente set up Toche for another close range finish.
Real Murcia came out for the 2nd half with all guns blazing, deservedly pulling a goal back on the hour mark through Isaac. When Mariano was sent off mins later, had it not been for the brilliance of keeper Ruben, Real Murcia could have scored a hatful. Completely against the run of play, Cartagena were awarded a penalty, following Victor being upended inside the box. Straight red for the miscreant Sergio, then from the spot, Victor coolly sent the keeper the wrong way to wrap up proceedings. This result keeps Cartagena top on 23 points, 2 points clear of 2nd place Real Sociadad. Real Murcia meanwhile, stay 2nd to bottom (oh dear!!).

FC CARTAGENA
Ruben, Exposito, Pablo (Herrero), Cygan, Clavero, Mariano, Longas, De Lucas (Hector), Toche, Victor, Lafuente (Quintero)
