Last week saw Cartagena players report for pre season training, probably still on a high following Spain's world cup victory. The club has so far penned the signatures of 4 new players. Challenging Ruben for the goalkeepers jersey is Alejandro Rebollo from Palencia. Defender Manuel Banos has signed from Caravaca, whilst midfielder Miguel Riau arrives from Valencia 'B'. Finally, making the switch from Numancia, is ace marksman (we hope!) Asier Goiria. As with last season, Cartagena start season 2010/11 with an away opening fixture in div 2a. On 29 Aug, they make the trip to Andalucian based Xerez, who last season finished bottom in La Liga. Then on 5 Sep, Elche are the visitors to Cartagonova Stadium, for what should be a tasty local(ish) derby. Sandwiched in between the 2 matches, is a home tie in the Copa del Rey against Madrid based Rayo Vallecano, which takes place on 1 Sep.
