ANOTHER POINT ON ROAD TO SURVIVAL

A first home point of the season for Cartagena, was greeted by fans on their feet singing and cheering just like the good old days. Only 15 mins of the game had elapased, and already Alvero, Dimas and Collantes (2) had seen attempts on goal well saved. On 27 mins, Goiria took a nasty knock, and was subbed by Balado. Collantes and Kijera were woking really well together down the left hand side, causing the Cordoba defence many problems. 

The 2nd half was pretty much the same as the 1st, in as much as Cartagena were totally dominating the play. When Cordoba did manage to break, there was no panic from the Cartagena defence, in which Herrero was outstanding, playing more like his old steady self. On 70 mins, Alvero came on for Lafuente who didn't waste any time getting in the thick of the action. He had a superb effort skimming the bar on 80 mins, from just outside the penalty area. At full time there was a standing ovation, which makes a nice change from whistles, boos and white hankies.
