Sigue la sequía goleadora. By Steve.

THE GOAL DROUGHT GOES ON AND ON
FC CARTAGENA - 0 UD LAS PALMAS - 0
BY STEVE HIBBERD

Despite playing against 10 men for over half an hour, once again Cartagena failed to score in a div 2a match. The men from the Canary Islands were there for the taking following a 2nd booking for Guerro, but poor finishing meant that the 10,167 crowd inside Cartagonova Stadium again had little to cheer about. For most of the 2nd half, it looked like Las Palmas were playing against 12 men, for the match referee certainly appeared to be a 'homer'.

Not only did the dismissal of Guerro look extremely harsh, but the award of a 'soft' penalty seemed equally benevolent. Unfortunately, Collantes did not take advantage of this gift, instead he weakly struck the spot kick straight down the middle into the arms of a grateful keeper. His next party trick was to fluff a shot less than a yard from the goal line, which even his fellow striker, the intrepid Gloria, would surely have converted - hmmm!! In addition to the Guerro sending off, Las Palmas had another 3 other players booked, whilst Cartagena had Moral and Anton yellow carded. Next Sat 17 Dec, ko 6pm, Cartagena visit Xerez for the last div 2a match of 2011 - what odds for another 0-0?
