Los "albinegros" comienzan con seguridad. By steve.

CONFIDENT START FOR LOS ALBINEGROS
FC CARTAGENA - 2 REAL JAEN - 0
BY STEVE HIBBERD

From start to finish, Cartagena totally dominated this opening div 2b fixture against Real Jaen.
The men from Andalucia were no match for a side which bore no resemblance to the luck warm outfit that disappointed so much during the pre-season friendlies. Fielding pretty much his best team (Lusarreta and Carmona being exceptions), manager Fran Alcoy must have been impressed by the way his lads showed such firm commitment.

FC CARTAGENA LINE UP`

CABALLERO, LEO, CHARCOS, CURRO, ORLANDO, MARIANO, CABREJO, SIVORI, MOLIST (TOLEDO 82), LAFUENTE (JUVENAL 84), BORRELL (CHITO 72)

Jaen rarely threatened, and when they did their shots were way off target. Man of the match Anders Lafuente was narrowly wide of the mark on 23 mins, but 10 mins later, he certainly did the biz! Following skilful play by skipper Sivori, his inch perfect assist to the pint sized Lafuente was dispatched with an equal amount of venom and accuracy, resulting in a delightful opening goal. Controversy reigned as heated disputes followed, resulting in a caution to a Jaen player, then their manager CAMPO must have wished that he was back in ´Last of the Summer Wine´, as he made the long walk down the tunnel towards the away dressing room, with the words ´Adios Tonto´ still ringing in his ears!!
Half Time - Cartagena - 2 Jaen - 0
Super striker Xavi Molist gave clear intentions of what was to come, when inside 2 mins of the 2nd half, his powerful long range shot agonisingly edged the wrong side of the post. On 53 mins, last seasons top scorer cracked it, when he converted a cross by full back Cabrejo, thus doubling his teams advantage. In all fairness, the visitors never looked like coming back, but their 200 or so travelling fans were absolutely brilliant, in the way they never ceased singing, earning deserved applause from the home fans. Although it was never a dirty match, Jaen players picked up a total of 5 bookings, whilst only Charcos from Cartagena was shown a yellow card for his cynical foul from behind. He must sort his act out, or I predict that many suspensions will follow.
Attendance - 3,000

FORTHCOMING FIXTURES

A rare midweek fixture followed on Wednesday (29 August), when Cartagena travelled to Granada Atletic for a 1st round tie in the Copa del Rey (Spanish FA Cup) - a report will feature in next weeks addition of RTN.
On Sunday 2 September, Los Albinegros make the long trip to Talavera, hoping for 3 more points towards an end of season play off place.
