ONE POINT BUT STILL NO GOALS
CD BAZA - 0 FC CARTAGENA - 0
BY STEVE HIBBERD
Once again, FC Cartagena failed to convert any of their chances on goal, and the goal drought has now been stretched to 3 matches.
Against lowly Baza, the divisions lowest goalscorers with only 7 goals all season, Cartagena flattered to deceive yet again. Playing against 10 men for the final 23 minutes, Los Albinegros really should have made numerical advantage count. Following the dismissal of Baza centre back Vojvoda, numerous chances fell Cartagenas way. Poor finishing by Orlando, Carmona and 2 awful misses by Sub Sivori, summed up Cartagenas average season. With the January transfer window looming, a proven goalscorer must be manager Alcoys top priority, for failure to start scoring goals could ultimately prove disastrous. Inside the tiny Constantino Navarro Stadium, Cartagenas travelling band of supporters tried their hardest to lift a low in moral set of players into something more inspirational, but alas it was all to no avail. Not only have Los Albinegros now slipped to 9th in div 2b, but they are now 7 points off pace setters Real Betis 'B'.
FC Cartagena line up
ALEJANDRO, ORMAZABAL, LUSARRETA, CURRO, ORLANDO, MARIANO, CABREJO, CARMONA (JUVENAL), MOLIST (SIVORI), LAFUENTE (CHITO), TOLEDO
Forthcoming Fixture
On Sunday 9 December, ko 5pm, Cartagena entertain local Murcian rivals Aguilas. After a slow start, Aguilas have now got their act together, currently sitting in 3rd place. This game is traditionally a humdinger, so if its excitement that you want from your football, then come along to Cartagonova Stadium for this latest important local derby - I promise that you won't be disappointed.
