La clasificación no miente. By Steve.

LEAGUE POSITIONS DON'T LIE
FC CARTAGENA - 4 UD LAS PALMAS - 1
BY STEVE HIBBERD

Do dreams come true? Can Cartagena continue their unbeaten run and seal promotion to the La Liga, to face the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona? Well, if the most recent performance against Canary Island based Las Palmas is a good indicator, then the answer is most definitely a resounding yes! With previous div 2a leaders Real Sociadad taking a 5-1 hammering at Hercules, Cartagena leapfrog them to the top, a point ahead of 2nd place Hercules.Manager JIM has stuck by his highly successful team week in week out, making changes only where necessary, so an injury to regular defender Txiki, explained the enforced rare start for Exposito. Cartagena went behind on 28 mins from a well taken goal by Marquez. Five mins later, De Lucas levelled with a delightful free kick from a very accute angle. In a pulsating game, which was brimming with goal scoring opportunities, Exposito gave the home side the lead on 73 mins courtesy of a powerful 20 yard free kick. The remainder of the game belonged to Los Albinegros, and it was no surprise when first Toche (76 mins), then Victor (80 mins) gave the scoreline a more realistic look.

Attendance - 10,396 FC Cartagena Lineup Ruben, Exposito, Cygan, Ruiz, Clavero, Lucas, Mariano (Hector), Longas, Lafuente (Quintero), Victor, Tato (Toche)
