Siguen los malos resultados pese al cambio de entrenador. By Steve.

NEW REGIME BUT BAD TIMES CONTINUE
CD GUADALAJARA - 2 FC CARTAGENA - 0
BY STEVE HIBBERD

As one Lopez (Paco) is firmly pushed off the FC Cartagena merry go round, another Lopez (Javi) jumps on. Following the midweek sacking of possibly the worst manager in the history of this proud south Murcian club, president Gomez wasted no time in appointing ex Xerez coach Javi Lopez as his replacement. But, it's not only the eurozone that is officially stuck in a depression, for bleak statistics reveal that yet another defeat for Los Albinegros leaves them without a solitary div 2a point, whilst hosts Guadalajara went top with an impressive 11 out of a possible 15 points. A fierce 30 yard drive by Torres on 12 mins sped just past the post, as the visitors started brightly. At the other end, Juanma pulled off a fine reflex save, preventing Guadalajara from taking the lead mid way through the 1st half.

The opening goal was once again from a set piece - Cartagena's achilles heel this season. An in swinging corner was deftly headed on to Moreno, who had the simple task of poking the ball home from close range. Guadalajara doubled their advantage 9 mins into the 2nd half, via route one football. A glorious through ball from defence found Anibal at the edge of the opponents penalty area. His determined run saw him beat 2 defenders, before rounding keeper Juanma, culminating in a simple side foot into an open net. Just after the hour mark, Goiria was put through on goal, but hesitated long enough for defenders to chase back and clear the danger. Toni Moral struck an accurate cross cum shot, which the home keeper desperately clawed away from the angle of bar and post. Los Albinegros were now well and truly on the ascendancy, and should have reduced the deficit when sub Bolado shot into the side netting from close range. Alvaro was the next visiting player to try their luck, but his fierce drive was well saved. Goiria became the 3rd Cartagena player to see yellow (for impersonating a footballer maybe?), joining team mates Mariano and Alvero, plus goalscorer Moreno.

Cartagena old boy Rodri almost added a 3rd goal, but his chipped shot over Juanma just missed the target. In stoppage time, visiting sub Maldonado shot over the bar, but all in all, Guadalajara fully deserved their victory, leaving new manager Javi Lopez the monumental task of lifting his new players spirits in time for the next match. Next up for Cartagena is a div 2a home match at Cartagonova Stadium. Make a note of Cartagena v Alcoyano on Sat 1 Oct, ko 6pm.
