CARTAGENA EARN HARD FOUGHT DRAW
UD VECIDARIO - 2 FC CARTAGENA - 2
BY STEVE HIBBERD

Cartagena played out an exciting 2-2 draw against Gran Canaria based Vecindario, midday last Sunday.
Three seasons ago, Vecindario knocked out Cartagena in the 1st round of play off matches for promotion to div 2a. Ironically, they drew 2-2 at Vecindario in the 1st leg, but lost at home to a late late goal.
Vecindario opened the scoring on 20 mins through Candela. Ten mins later, they had doubled their lead when Comendez scored with a long range drive. But just after the half hour mark, skipper Mariano pulled a goal back, giving Cartagena fresh hope.
Into the 2nd half, Addison scored a cracker after 59 mins to give Cartagena a deserved equalizer. Addison turned from hero to villian some 20 mins later, when a 2nd bookable offence resulted in him receiving his marching orders. This was 2 weeks on the trot that a Cartagena player has seen red (Carmona missing this match due to a 1 match suspension). Falcon and Juan Pablo also received yellow cards, along with 4 Vecindario players. Although Cartagena came closest to scoring the winner, a 2-2 draw was probably a fair result. Consequently, Real Madrid 'B' have now extended their lead at the top of div 2b to 3 points, although Cartagena remain in 2nd place on 18 points.
